One of my clients running Sage 100 from a terminal server noticed that they were getting errors written to their windows error log indicating that a write could not be completed to the providex.ddf file. It does not seem to be impacting Sage 100 operations. I find this curious because I thought that this was the data dictionary file. Why would the data dictionary be getting updated in day to day operations? If I installed a product update, that would make sense to me. I looked at my own system (not a terminal server) and noted that the date on the file was today and happened to correspond to the last time data entry was made. Apparently updating of this file is normal, but why should this file be getting updated?
