To read data use the ODBC connection to the DB.  To write new records or edit data within Sage best path is to write a VI job to integrate the data (using the Sage Business Objects) and then script a BOI task to kick it off on demand.  We use this process to load orders, items, po's etc. into Sage 100 4.50 SQL and also update those records from our outside applications. Sage Business Objects write data records to many tables when performing their functions.  It is therefore never a good idea to SQL insert or wedge data into the DB until you have a much stronger understanding of the application flow and risks.  You can break things real bad!
