Forum Post: RE: Inventory Management Reorder Method

I think I understand what you're dealing with. The Reorder Method field has an option of "None", but it won't retain that value. Prior to version 4.40, "None" was not an option. Every item got set with "Economic Order Quantity" when it was created. There was no way of indicating you want to use "No method". Then in version 4.4 they added the option of "None", and I thought we now had that "Don't auto reorder" flag. But as soon as the item is transacted, it changes "None" to "Economic Order Quantity" and while it will let you change it back to "None", it will just reset it to EOQ again on the next transaction. I reported this to Sage, and they wrote it up as a defect. But as it moved through the process it was determined it was "Working As Designed". I don't understand why your design would include an option that you can't actually use. Whatever. I guess we just have to remember that "Working as Designed" <> "Good Design" :-) If you do consolidated purchasing, you could do something along the lines of maintaining your reorder points on your primary/ordering warehouse, then design an inventory reorder report in Crystal that combines everything for you. The calculations it performs are pretty basic and wouldn't be difficult to reproduce in Crystal. Your reseller should be able to help you with that. Best of luck to you!
