Forum Post: Custom UDFs in SO Header for Custom Order Instructions - best way to cleanly retain history??

Hello All, We are a distribution company that occasionally does custom decorated products for our customers.  We have created UDFs in the Sales Order header to keep track of things like:  Colourization Choice, Logo Placement, Decoration Type, etc.  Once the sales order is processed, these fields will be lost, so I need to copy them to a history table for storage.  I am currently trying to figure out what is the best storage solution - replicating these fields to SO Invoice History Header, or using BOI to copy the fields to a new UDT. These orders are a very small % of our total transactions, but ideally we need to have the data easy to access, so when a customer calls asking for a repeat of an order done the previous year, we can easily pull the data up while they are on the phone, and confirm that we a repeating the correct order.  If we copy the fields to Invoice History, then we have all of the decoration instructions tied to the actual order, which would be prefered, but I'm not sure what is the best way to make these specific records easily accessible to the CSR while they have the customer on the phone. If I copy the data to a UDT, it gives me a list of only the custom-logoed sales orders, and I know I can write the Invoice number to the UDT after the Sales Order has been processed, but is there a way of linking the UDT to the Invoice History Detail so we can pull up the specific records of what was sold on the custom-logoed order? Any thoughts on what the cleanest way to go is? Cheers! Ryan
